LGSA Listserv 101

What is the LGSA listserve?
It's a way that all LGSA members can send emails to each other easily. You can share information, receive updates, find out what's new, and find help for your projects.

How does it work?
The listserve is managed by a program called Majordomo. This keeps the email addresses anonymous (except for the email sender, that is YOU!) and gives you the ability to communicate with all other LGSA members directly. You must be subscribed to the list to successfully send email to LGSA@sfsu.edu.

How can I join?
It's easy. Click here and fill out your name and email address (does NOT need to be an SFSU email address).

What should I consider when I send an email to LGSA@sfsu.edu
When you send an email to LGSA@sfsu.edu, keep in mind that EVERY person who is subscribed to this list will receive this email. This may include your professors, classmates, and students from other schools and/or related fields of study. The content of your email should be related to linguistics, the English Department, the LGSA, or other topics that are relevant to students. In summary, follow the Cooperative Principle, adhere to the four maxims, and don't be afraid to speak up if you have something to share or need help!

How do I unsubscribe?
Instructions will be sent to you when you join, but you can unsubscribe at any time by sending an email to Majordomo at sfsu.edu. Leave the subject line BLANK. In the body of the email, write the following:
unsubscribe lgsa youremailaddresshere

Who moderates this list?
Your LGSA Co-President, Kim W., is the moderator for this list. Questions and concerns about listserve should be sent to her at fledgelings at gmail.com, or you can leave a comment on this post and the response will be replied here in public. Abuse of the listserv will result in appropriate action, including a termination from the list in most egregious instances. Please use the list appropriately and help make it a cooperative experience and valuable resource to others. Thank you.
